Apple has extended its Self Service Repair scheme to include out-of-warranty iPad repairs, enabling independent technicians to access genuine parts, official manuals, and diagnostic tools. This support now covers recent iPad models such as the iPad Air (M2 and above), iPad Pro (M4), iPad mini (A17 Pro), and iPad (A16). Specialist toolkits and rental equipment are also available, making it easier for smaller repair businesses to deliver high-quality services using authentic Apple components.
The company has also expanded its Genuine Parts Distributor programme, allowing independent repair providers who do not have a direct partnership with Apple to purchase original parts from approved distributors such as MobileSentrix and Mobileparts.shop in Europe and the United States. iPad parts will be added to this distribution network, joining a growing range of iPhone components and further supporting local repair shops in maintaining competitive, reliable service.
This broader approach marks a significant change in Apple’s repair strategy and is expected to benefit both consumers and independent repairers by making legitimate Apple parts more accessible and affordable. With the Self Service Repair initiative now supporting 65 Apple products and due to launch in Canada later this summer, Apple is reinforcing its commitment to a diverse and accessible repair ecosystem worldwide.
