Refurbed customer base exceeds 250,000 in 2024 in Sweden

Interest in refurbished electronics and sustainable products is steadily increasing in Sweden. Refurbed, one of Europe’s fastest-growing marketplaces for reconditioned devices, has gained a strong foothold in the country, with a customer base exceeding 250,000 and a revenue surpassing SEK 1.3 billion in 2024.

Established in Austria in 2017, Refurbed has quickly positioned itself as a major player in the European refurbished technology sector. The company expanded into four new markets in 2024 and now collaborates with over 200 suppliers across twelve countries.

“It’s inspiring to witness the rapid adoption of refurbished devices among Swedish consumers. Many are drawn to them not only for their environmental benefits but also because they offer the same functionality and appearance as new products—at a more affordable price,” says Ulrika Rudquist, Marketing Manager at Refurbed Sweden.

Initially specializing in smartphones and computers, Refurbed has significantly broadened its inventory. Today, the platform features over 18,000 products spanning multiple categories, including kitchen appliances, household essentials, skis, and electric bikes. Every item undergoes thorough inspection and restoration to ensure high quality and reliability.

“We believe every gadget deserves a second life. Extending product lifecycles helps conserve natural resources, cut emissions, and minimize waste,” Rudquist explains.

Refurbed is working to solidify reconditioned products as a distinct category in the marketplace—bridging the gap between brand-new and second-hand items. This approach delivers the best of both worlds: premium quality at a lower cost, with a strong sustainability focus.

Looking ahead to 2025, Refurbed plans to introduce additional product lines and expand its presence in new markets. Simultaneously, the company will continue its partnership with Fraunhofer Austria, a renowned research institute, to further assess and promote the environmental advantages of refurbished technology.
