Vodafone has once again been recognised for its excellence in environmental transparency and action on climate change by securing a spot on the prestigious CDP ‘A List.’ This accolade, awarded by the global environmental non-profit CDP, highlights Vodafone’s efforts to reduce emissions, manage climate risks, and contribute to a low-carbon economy. Based on data submitted through CDP’s 2024 climate change questionnaire, the recognition underscores Vodafone’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges with accountability and purpose.
CDP operates the world’s leading independent platform for environmental disclosure, assessing companies, cities, and regions on their efforts to measure and manage environmental impacts. In 2024 alone, over 24,000 companies across 130 countries, representing two-thirds of global market capitalisation, participated in CDP’s rigorous evaluation process. Companies are graded from A to D- based on criteria such as transparency, climate risk management, and the implementation of best practices. Vodafone’s demonstrated leadership, including the release of its first Climate Transition Plan for fiscal years 2025 to 2027, contributed to its top-tier recognition.
Vodafone’s Chief External & Corporate Affairs Officer, Joakim Reiter, emphasised that their inclusion on the CDP ‘A List’ reflects the company’s dual focus on bold climate action and openness about progress. CDP’s disclosure system, widely regarded as the gold standard for environmental reporting, has become a key tool for driving corporate accountability and influencing investment decisions. In 2024, CDP introduced stricter criteria and enhanced its alignment with global standards, requiring organisations to achieve at least 80% compliance across all disclosure sections to qualify for the ‘A List.’ This elevated benchmark further reinforces the significance of Vodafone’s achievement in a year of heightened environmental scrutiny.
