Cykero Inaugurates High-End Refurbishment Centre in Montpellier

Cykero, specialising in high-end reconditioning of electronic devices, has begun construction of its new Technocentre 5.0 in Castelnau-le-Lez, just outside Montpellier. The facility, covering around 3,800 m², will be devoted to refurbishing smartphones, tablets, laptops and wearables. Cykero’s founder, Bichoi Metias, frames the project as a strategic step toward European-scale circular economy development, with Montpellier envisioned as a key hub for premium revitalised electronics.

Designed as a 5.0-era industrial site, the Technocentre will combine automation, artificial intelligence and energy-efficient systems. It will include a public-facing showroom, “Reconditionné en France”, alongside smart production lines, solar panels, a green roof, and energy-recovery infrastructure, all intended to sharply reduce its carbon footprint. Local and regional authorities support the plan, seeing it as a way to boost both sustainable growth and the region’s technological sovereignty.

Economically, Cykero expects the centre to create 160 jobs by 2030, with early recruitment beginning in 2026. Once fully operational, the site is projected to process 40,000 devices per month, and the company aims to maintain a notably low return rate of below 2%. To support this, Cykero plans to partner with local training organisations, universities and employment agencies to build the required skilled workforce.
