Apple announced an expansion of its self-service repair initiative, now covering a broader range of iPad models. The move allows users greater autonomy in maintaining their devices by offering access to authentic tools, parts, and troubleshooting resources directly from Apple.
Customers with compatible models such as the iPad Air, iPad Pro, iPad mini, and iPad (A16) will be able to purchase genuine Apple components and repair kits. The available parts include displays, batteries, cameras, and external charging ports. Users will also have access to Apple Diagnostics for troubleshooting, official repair manuals, and toolkits, which can either be bought or rented.
Originally launched in 2022, the Self-Service Repair program gives customers the same professional-grade tools and resources used by Apple’s own technicians and authorized service providers. It now supports repairs for 65 Apple products, including the latest iPhone 16e, MacBook Air, and Mac Studio.
The company also shared updates on its Genuine Parts Distributor initiative, which enables independent repair shops to order official Apple components and repair materials. In the U.S., MobileSentrix is a key distributor, while in Europe, both MobileSentrix and Mobileparts Shop handle distribution. Initially focused on iPhone parts like screens, batteries, and charging connectors, the program will begin offering iPad components starting tomorrow.
Through its growing repair ecosystem including mail-in service, Self-Service Repair, Apple Authorized Service Providers, Independent Repair Providers, Apple Stores, and now the Genuine Parts Distributor program Apple continues to broaden repair options for users and empower smaller repair businesses across the globe.
