Cyculus and Renew Kings set a new bar for refurbishment in Europe

Cyculus Services is integrating Renew Kings’ refurbishment technology into its high-throughput, automated device processing facility in Göppingen, Germany. The collaboration blends Renew Kings’ screen scratch-removal, polishing, and cosmetic restoration with Cyculus’ robotic grading and testing platform, creating a tightly orchestrated flow from diagnostics to finish. The result aims to deliver devices that are near-as-new both in performance and appearance, establishing a fresh benchmark for European refurbishment.

From later this month, the polishing service will be offered to all Cyculus customers under the Total Care programme, while Renew Kings will also provide polishing directly to European businesses not currently on the Cyculus platform. Every handset flagged by Cyculus’ AI systems for cosmetic attention will be routed to Renew Kings’ specialist division, improving turnaround times, boosting resale values, and enhancing buyer satisfaction. According to Cyculus CEO Fergal Donovan, integrating world-class polishing into automated workflows enables a genuinely end-to-end service marrying precision, quality, and sustainability at scale.

The commercial upside is clear. Devices with a near-new finish command an estimated 8–15% higher resale price than unpolished equivalents, while in-house polishing shortens processing times, helping preserve roughly 1–2% of value for each week saved. This speed allows refurbishers to hit market peaks and mitigate depreciation. Renew Kings’ CEO Chris Pattihis frames the partnership as a step-change in circularity: extending device life, maximising recovered value, and cutting e-waste by embedding specialist cosmetic restoration into a scalable European platform.

Under Renew Kings’ “gold standard” approach, units are polished within hours of leaving Cyculus’ diagnostic line. Around half of incoming devices show visible scratches that can be fully removed using a non-invasive process with specialised abrasives, compounds, and precision tools, maintaining screen integrity. Market data from platforms such as Back Market and Amazon indicates that devices restored to “Good” or “Excellent” cosmetic condition achieve 20–40% higher resale values than those rated “Fair” or “Poor”. Final release is governed by Cyculus’ automated grading, with only units meeting the agreed visual criteria cleared for sale, driving transparency, consistency, and trust.
