Exertis IT has strengthened its commitment to sustainability by acquiring Group 8, an Apple Authorised Service Provider with over 20 years of experience in repairing and maintaining Apple devices. This move aligns with Exertis’ circular economy strategy, which focuses on extending the lifecycle of technology products to minimise electronic waste and promote resource efficiency.
Group 8 specialises in repair services for Apple products, including MacBooks, iPads, iPhones, and Apple Watches. The company also offers a nationwide Collect & Return Repair Service with secure packaging and insurance, alongside support contracts providing remote, telephone, and onsite technical assistance. Through these services, Group 8 has built a strong reputation for quality and customer-centric solutions, making it a valuable addition to Exertis IT’s sustainability-focused initiatives.
The acquisition complements Exertis IT’s existing efforts in the refurbished technology market, including its work with the Samsung-accredited MTR Group. By integrating Group 8 into its operations, Exertis enhances its ability to provide second-life technology solutions, reducing electronic waste and supporting the transition to a more circular economy. Rod McCarthy, Group Managing Director at Exertis IT, highlighted the importance of this move, stating that it positions the company and its customers to lead in the second-life tech market as circular economy regulations become more prominent.
Tim Griffin, CEO of Exertis IT, expressed enthusiasm for the acquisition, noting that Group 8’s expertise and customer-focused approach align seamlessly with Exertis’ sustainability goals. He emphasised the partnership’s role in advancing resource efficiency and innovation. Group 8’s leadership team, including Terry Fannin, Veronica Child, and David Meehan, will remain with the business to ensure a smooth integration and continued success. This acquisition marks a significant milestone in Exertis’s mission to deliver comprehensive circular technology solutions across the UK, further reinforcing its dedication to energy efficiency and environmental responsibility.
