Lenovo has launched its Certified Refurbishment Services across 14 EMEA markets, giving businesses a structured way to extend the lifespan of their existing Lenovo hardware. The programme is designed to help organisations cut costs, stretch IT budgets and reduce electronic waste by offering a credible alternative to purchasing new equipment or simply extending warranties.
The company says the service arrives at a time when European firms are seeking practical, affordable ways to meet sustainability targets without compromising on innovation. According to Lenovo’s Greg Smith, the refurbishment options support EU‑driven requirements for greener procurement by lowering IT‑related carbon emissions and improving resource efficiency.
Businesses can choose from a range of refurbishment levels, from light refresh to full restoration, all managed through the Lenovo Service Connect Portal. Each device undergoes data sanitisation, functional testing and cosmetic repair using original components. The initiative supports EU sustainability policies, including the forthcoming Circular Economy Act, the EU Green Deal and CSRD, by encouraging longer hardware lifecycles.
Lenovo highlights research showing that extending the life of electronics by just 30% can reduce annual emissions by up to 20%, with the European Commission estimating major CO₂ savings through better materials management. The new services are now available in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
