Tele2 has once again earned a place on the CDP’s prestigious A List, marking the fourth year in a row that the Swedish operator has been recognised for its strong climate reporting and decarbonisation efforts. CDP, regarded as the global benchmark for environmental disclosure, reviewed submissions from more than 22,000 companies in 2025, yet only a small fraction achieved the top grade. Tele2’s repeat success reflects both the maturity of its sustainability strategy and its commitment to open, verifiable data on climate impact.
The recognition comes at a time when financial institutions are increasing pressure on companies to disclose environmental risks and actions, with over 640 investors representing more than US$127 trillion requesting transparency through CDP’s platform this year. Tele2’s Head of Sustainability, Erik Wottrich, said the continued A rating demonstrates the progress the company is making and reinforces its ambition to lead on sustainability within the telecoms sector.
Tele2’s climate programme is anchored in science‑based targets first set in 2021 and expanded in 2022 to cover a full net‑zero pathway. The operator aims to cut its scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90 per cent by 2025 and eliminate them entirely by 2029. It also plans to reduce scope 3 emissions per subscription by 60 per cent by the end of the decade and achieve net‑zero across its entire value chain by 2035. Alongside cutting its own footprint, the company is pushing suppliers to adopt lower‑carbon practices and expanding circular‑economy initiatives.
This latest acknowledgement from CDP underlines Tele2’s position as one of Europe’s environmental leaders in telecoms. With digital infrastructure playing an increasingly important role in enabling a low‑carbon future, the operator says it will continue investing in energy‑efficient networks and responsible supply‑chain management to support both national and international climate goals.
