Telia has announced its ambitious plan to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040. This comprehensive Climate Transition Plan outlines the steps the company will take to meet its goal and highlights the significant role its digital services can play in building a low-carbon future. By leveraging innovation and technology, Telia aims to not only reduce its own emissions but also empower businesses and individuals to decrease their environmental impact.
As part of its mid-term goals, Telia is committed to cutting emissions from its operations by 90% and reducing emissions across its entire value chain by 50% within the next five years. These targets demonstrate Telia’s focus on leading by example and driving meaningful change throughout its ecosystem. In addition to reducing its own footprint, Telia’s offerings, such as 5G networks and Internet of Things solutions, are helping customers improve energy efficiency and reduce their environmental impact through digitalisation.
The company is also ensuring that its services remain reliable, even as climate change contributes to more extreme and unpredictable weather patterns. Anna Augustson, Telia’s Head of Group Sustainability, emphasised the shared responsibility in tackling climate change, stating that their plan is built on actionable steps, some already underway, others requiring scaling or initiation, with every employee playing a part in driving progress.
