Vodafone Netherlands advances on sustainability

Vodafone Business has introduced One for One, a simple promise with real impact: for every new Business Mobile Unlimited contract you take out, one discarded phone is recycled on your company’s behalf. There’s nothing to send in and no admin for your team, one subscription equals one recycled device. Working with specialist partner Closing the Loop, valuable metals are recovered from end‑of‑life phones and fed back into manufacturing, strengthening a circular economy and reducing reliance on virgin materials.

The programme makes sustainability effortless. Closing the Loop collects obsolete handsets in countries where formal e‑waste systems are lacking, such as Ghana. Devices are safely stored and registered, transported to certified recyclers, and processed to EU standards. Up to 98% of metals can be recovered, yielding as much as 300 times more gold from waste than from ore, while using up to 90% less energy than traditional mining and preventing harmful substances from entering the environment.

One for One aligns with VodafoneZiggo’s People, Planet, Progress strategy, specifically the Planet pillar, and is focused on measurable impact rather than profit. Today the initiative applies to Business Mobile Unlimited, with plans to expand to other bundles. You keep the same reliable service at the same price, but with the added assurance that your choice helps cut e‑waste and supports circular solutions, an easy way to advance your sustainability goals and enhance your reputation with customers, staff and partners.
