Telia achieves top EcoVadis sustainability score in 2024

In a significant achievement for corporate responsibility, Telia Company has been recognised by EcoVadis as one of the leading sustainable businesses globally. In 2024, the telecommunications provider earned a prestigious Platinum Medal, placing it in the top 1% among 130,000 companies assessed this year. Telia’s overall score improved to 87 out of 100, a notable rise from the previous year’s score of 83, reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability.

EcoVadis employs a comprehensive evaluation system that examines 21 criteria across four key themes: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Telia’s enhanced performance is particularly attributed to its robust results in the environmental and ethics categories. The company has made impressive strides in utilising renewable energy, operating all its networks on fossil-free sources, and promoting sustainability through mobile device life extension initiatives.

Anna Augustson, the Group Head of Sustainability at Telia, outlined the company’s ambitious goals, which include achieving net-zero emissions by 2040 and enhancing digital inclusion for 2.2 million individuals by 2026. Telia plans to release its annual sustainability report on March 19, 2025, which will offer detailed insights into its environmental and social progress. EcoVadis’ ratings are grounded in respected international standards, including the UN Global Compact and the ISO 26000, ensuring that Telia’s accomplishments are recognised on a global scale.
