Device Network scraps software fees to accelerate refurbished trade adoption

Secondary-market platform Device Network has removed subscription charges for its core software, offering qualifying businesses lifetime access to 16 modules. To qualify, firms must register and connect to the platform before 13 November. Until now, customers have paid as much as £595 a month depending on their package.

The offer is aimed at businesses across the used and refurbished device chain, including retailers, repairers, recyclers and wholesalers. The platform combines stock management, grading, pricing, trade-in and marketplace listings in one place. Users can plug in their existing diagnostics provider, import test results and data-erasure certificates, and keep stock in sync across supported sales channels. Each handset’s IMEI or serial number is linked to its testing, erasure and grading history, and these records are checked before the device is listed for resale.

Chief executive Tim Meloni described the move as a deliberate decision to remove a barrier to adoption and increase the number of verified devices moving through the network. He said the company’s revenue will increasingly come from digital services, enterprise products and verification infrastructure rather than from charging every reseller for basic software. Pay-as-you-go services such as IMEI checks, as well as enterprise and white-label solutions, will still be charged, and third-party providers may bill separately.

Device Network says it had 40 active customers in the past 30 days and wants to add at least 250 more within a month. Within a year, it aims to process one million devices a month. It also plans to set up a non-profit Device Network Alliance before the end of the year, starting work in early 2027 on device verification, returns fraud and right to repair.
