Dipli and Orange introduce a digital smartphone trade-in platform

Virgin Media O2 unveils £400k tech initiative with Hubbub

Dipli has partnered with Orange to launch a fully digital smartphone trade-in service, designed to make device recycling more accessible for individuals. This initiative tackles a critical issue: despite nearly 70% of French consumers owning unused smartphones, few have taken steps to resell them. Encouraging trade-ins at the right moment remains a key challenge, which this collaboration aims to address.

By joining forces, Dipli and Orange reaffirm their commitment to the circular economy, offering a streamlined solution that promotes smartphone recycling and refurbishment while reducing electronic waste.

As a specialist in second-life electronics, Dipli oversees the entire trade-in process, ensuring a consistent pricing structure across both online and in-store transactions—an essential element for telecom operators adopting omnichannel strategies. Additionally, Orange covers the shipping costs, allowing customers to trade in their old smartphones at no extra expense.

Dipli’s proprietary technology powers both online and in-store trade-in services, utilizing a sophisticated algorithm to evaluate device value, even for those with defects. By collaborating with leading refurbishers, Dipli ensures that pre-owned smartphones are restored, reused, and reintroduced into the market, maximizing their lifecycle and environmental impact.

This initiative provides dual benefits: environmental sustainability through smartphone reuse and financial incentives for consumers, who receive compensation when purchasing new devices. The platform is available to both Orange and non-Orange customers, making smartphone recycling more accessible and user-friendly.
