Eldan Recycling innovates with advanced sorting technology

Eldan Recycling is making significant strides in the field of sorting technology by expanding its product offerings to include optical sorting solutions. Renowned for its expertise in recycling electronic waste and lithium-ion batteries, the Danish company has been a leader in manufacturing high-performance recycling equipment since 1956. Eldan’s systems are celebrated for their effectiveness, low production costs, and high purity outputs, employing ambient mechanical techniques that eliminate the need for melting or chemical treatments. The company’s modular design allows clients to adapt and enhance their operations as market demands evolve.

In January 2024, Eldan announced a co-ownership agreement with Picvisa Machine Vision Systems, a leader in optical sorting technology, marking a significant advancement for the company. This partnership has led to the development of new sorting machines, including the Eldan MPS (Multi Purpose Sorter) and the Eldan SPS (Small Purpose Sorter), which debuted in the second quarter of this year. The SPS garnered attention at the IFAT trade show in Munich, where it was showcased with live demonstrations, proving to be a major success. These machines are specifically designed to improve sorting efficiency across various applications, including Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and mixed metal scrap.

The establishment of the Eldan Sorting brand represents a focused effort to enhance the company’s sorting solutions. CEO Toni Reftman expressed excitement about this partnership, noting its potential to open new markets and provide existing clients with greater options. By integrating advanced technologies like AI and infrared capabilities, Eldan aims to facilitate innovative sorting based on color and material. This initiative not only enhances operational efficiency but also contributes to the company’s mission of promoting sustainable practices and conserving natural resources for future generations.

Eldan Recycling is also committed to continuous innovation, exemplified by improvements to its Heavy Duty Granulator (HDG). This upgraded machine is engineered to handle challenging materials, including various types of electrical waste and non-ferrous metals. Eldan’s engagement in trade shows further emphasises its dedication to connecting with clients and showcasing the latest technologies, ensuring that both existing and potential customers have access to the best recycling solutions available.
