EUREFAS joins Ecodesign Forum for sustainable strategies

EUREFAS, the European Refurbishment Association, has announced its new membership in the Ecodesign Forum, a pivotal move aimed at enhancing the implementation of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). This forum is set to play a crucial role in establishing sustainability standards that enhance the reusability, repairability, and recyclability of products across the European Union. By joining this initiative, EUREFAS positions itself as a key player in the ongoing dialogue about sustainable product design.

EUREFAS’s participation in the forum underscores its commitment to representing the interests of the refurbishment sector. The organisation aims to advocate for designs that prioritise true repairability, tackling issues related to spare parts and barriers to repairs. Furthermore, EUREFAS seeks to promote equitable regulations tailored specifically for second-hand professionals, ensuring that their needs are addressed in policy discussions. A significant aspect of this initiative is the push for transparent information sharing throughout the value chain, facilitated by tools like the Digital Product Passport, which will help refurbishers and consumers make more informed choices.

Looking ahead, this collaboration marks a significant stride toward realising a circular economy in Europe. EUREFAS is dedicated to driving sustainable practices, fostering innovation, and contributing to a greener future for the European market. With the support of various members from The Broker Site, including companies like Foxway, Flex IT, and refurbed, EUREFAS aims to create a robust framework for sustainable refurbishment practices that will benefit the environment and the economy alike.
