Phonecheck has obtained Level 4 Assurance certification for its device data-erasure technology following independent testing by ADISA. The assessment found that information could not be recovered from devices sanitised using Phonecheck’s software, providing additional assurance for businesses preparing used technology for refurbishment, resale or redeployment.
Secure data deletion is an important requirement in the secondary device market, where smartphones, tablets and laptops regularly move between owners. A standard factory reset or file deletion does not always guarantee that stored information is irretrievable, making independent verification particularly relevant for refurbishers, insurers, mobile operators and IT asset disposition providers.
ADISA used forensic tools and recovery techniques to test whether erased data could be retrieved. The solution passed the assessment for device reuse, strengthening confidence that devices can be securely returned to circulation without exposing previous users’ personal or corporate information.
As refurbishment volumes grow, certified data sanitisation can help remove one of the key barriers to device reuse. Reliable erasure processes support secure resale and redeployment while allowing organisations to recover value from equipment that might otherwise remain unused or be prematurely recycled.
