Samsung is bringing its Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra smartphones into its Certified Re-Newed programme, giving consumers access to refurbished versions of its latest flagship devices. The move expands the role of refurbished technology beyond older or entry-level products and makes high-end smartphones available through a second-life model.

Each Certified Re-Newed device undergoes Samsung’s inspection, cleaning and testing process and can receive genuine Samsung replacement parts depending on its condition. The phones are also reset to remove personal data and updated with the latest software before being resold. Samsung is offering the refurbished models with the same two-year warranty as its new devices in the UK, helping address concerns around reliability when purchasing second-hand technology.

From a circular economy perspective, extending the commercial life of flagship smartphones can help reduce the need for entirely new devices and preserve the resources already invested in their manufacture. Offering recent premium models through an official refurbishment channel could also make refurbished technology more mainstream by giving consumers a recognised alternative to buying new.
