Schneider Electric advocates for sustainable technology at Davos

Schneider Electric, a frontrunner in energy management and automation, is set to make a significant impact at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2025. The company aims to promote greater collaboration among global leaders to enhance the adoption of energy technologies and automation solutions. This year’s forum will focus on addressing pressing global challenges, including navigating geopolitical tensions while fostering growth and facilitating a fair energy transition. Schneider Electric aligns closely with the WEF’s mission, drawing upon its extensive experience in various sectors to help clients minimise their environmental footprints while boosting efficiency and resilience.

In preparation for the event, Schneider Electric has published two important reports: The Looming Power Crunch: Solutions for Data Center Expansion in an Energy-Constrained World and Artificial Intelligence for Energy Transition. These documents provide insights into tackling the difficulties of operating in an energy-constrained environment while ensuring that growth remains sustainable and economically viable. They also outline a strategic approach to integrating artificial intelligence into infrastructure, which can significantly contribute to decarbonisation efforts in the energy sector.

During the International Energy Agency (IEA) global conference in December 2024, CEO Olivier Blum emphasised the potential of AI to enhance efficiency, resilience, and security in energy management. He urged stakeholders to capitalise on the momentum surrounding AI to accelerate the use of technologies like comprehensive AI solutions for data centers and AI-driven heating and cooling systems in buildings. Such initiatives are crucial for achieving a successful energy transition and advancing the development of intelligent industries.

A recent WEF report highlights that merely improving energy efficiency with current technologies could decrease energy intensity by 31%, resulting in savings of over $2 trillion by 2030. To achieve this on a large scale, Schneider Electric advocates for stronger collaborations and improved efficiency across industries. “Sustainability and economic growth can coexist,” states Olivier Blum and by fostering strategic alliances, companies can harness available innovations to enhance their performance while making a meaningful impact toward a sustainable future for all.
