Virgin Media O2’s net zero goals

Virgin Media O2 has signed a ten-year agreement with egg Power to source solar electricity from a new solar farm in Suffolk. The deal marks another major step in reducing the company’s dependence on conventional energy sources.

Once operational, the project is expected to provide around 5% of Virgin Media O2’s total energy needs. Long-term renewable power agreements such as this help businesses stabilise costs while directly supporting the growth of clean energy generation in the UK.

The agreement highlights how sustainability is becoming central to telecom operations. Alongside device recycling and refurbishment programmes, cleaner network energy use is another important pillar of the circular economy, helping reduce the environmental impact of connectivity services.
