Vodafone and WWF reach one million phone milestone

Vodafone, in collaboration with WWF, has successfully collected one million unused mobile phones, marking a major milestone in its environmental campaign. This initiative has generated £1 million for conservation projects, with each donated device contributing directly to global efforts aimed at protecting wildlife and natural habitats.

The programme, launched in late 2022, encouraged individuals across Europe and Africa to return old phones through trade-ins, recycling, or donations. By giving these devices a second life, the campaign supports a circular economy while reducing electronic waste. Refurbishing and reusing phones significantly lowers carbon emissions and reduces the demand for raw materials needed in manufacturing new devices.

Beyond the environmental benefits, the funds raised are supporting conservation initiatives worldwide, from protecting endangered species to restoring ecosystems. The campaign highlights how small individual actions, when scaled collectively, can create meaningful global impact.
