Zain Group has achieved the highest possible score in the 2025 CDP Climate Change assessment, placing it among a small group of global operators recognised for rigorous environmental transparency and meaningful decarbonisation action. The rating reflects the company’s progress in embedding climate considerations into long‑term planning, risk management and operational decision‑making across its footprint in the Middle East and Africa.
The operator has been steadily expanding its climate programme, combining renewable‑energy deployment, energy‑efficiency upgrades and emissions‑reduction targets aligned with international scientific frameworks. In recent years, Zain has rolled out thousands of solar and hybrid power systems, cut fuel use at network sites and introduced detailed transition plans to reach net‑zero emissions by 2050. These efforts sit alongside initiatives to enhance resource efficiency, including water‑risk assessments, waste‑management improvements and support for greener infrastructure choices.
Zain’s sustainability agenda also supports the circular economy, as the company works to reduce its reliance on diesel generators, extend the life of network assets and promote technologies that minimise environmental impact as data usage and connectivity demands grow. By securing a place on CDP’s A List, Zain says it aims to demonstrate how ambitious climate action and responsible growth can reinforce one another, encouraging other operators in the region to accelerate their own environmental commitments.
