Virgin Media O2 joins the Greener Litigation Associate Member Commitment

Virgin Media O2 has pledged to lower the environmental impact of litigation by becoming a Greener Litigation Associate Member, Virgin Media O2. The Associate Member Pledge enables organisations that are involved in litigation, but not as litigation businesses, to back Greener Litigation’s efforts and advance towards Net Zero carbon emissions.

Virgin Media O2’s sustainability strategy, the Better Connections Plan, aims to reach net zero carbon emissions in its operations, products and supply chain (Scopes 1, 2 and 3 emissions) by 2040. The company cut its carbon emissions (Scopes 1 and 2) by 29% compared to its 2020 baseline last year, and avoided over 29 million tonnes of carbon from entering Earth’s atmosphere.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), a reputable organisation, validated Virgin Media O2’s net zero goal, and the Carbon Trust awarded it the Advancing Level of its Route to Net Zero Standard, making it the first UK telco to achieve this recognition for its net zero plan.

The Telco’s General Counsel, Enrique Medina Malo, further emphasised on their initiative and commitment by stating that “By signing the Greener Litigation Pledge, we’re building on our commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions across our operations, products, and supply chain by the end of 2040”.
