O2 Telefónica partners with Foxway Recommerce for eco-friendly smartphone options

O2 Telefónica of Germany is embracing eco-friendliness by making refurbished smartphones available for purchase on their website. These ‘as new’ devices can be found in O2 shops as well. Additionally, refurbished and used Apple iPhones are up for grabs on O2’s website. O2 Telefónica’s commitment to offering refurbished smartphones is a step towards a more eco-friendly consumer electronics market, promoting device reuse and minimizing ecological impact. The trade-in program is powered by Foxway, the Swedish Recommerce authority, which confidently handles the sales of these devices to the telecom operator.

Markus von Böhlen, Director Devices, Trading & Digital Life at O2 Telefónica, accentuates on this progress stating that “In addition to buying used devices in all channels, with customer-friendly processes and good prices, we want to increase the sales of refurbished devices in new condition. anchor at O2 and Blau.”

O2 Telefónica’s initiative aligns with the rising consumer demand for eco-friendly choices in Germany, mirroring the broader shift towards a circular economy in the telecom industry. Market research by GfK indicates a 90% surge in pre-owned phone sales in Germany in the previous year, a trend O2 is keenly capitalising on.
