Vodafone’s Giga TV set top boxes earn TÜV Rheinland’s green product mark

Vodafone’s Giga TV Home and GigaTV Home Sound Set Top Boxes have set an industry precedent by earning the Green Product Mark from TÜV Rheinland, affirming their compliance with rigorous environmental standards. This certification, a testament to sustainable product design by Sagemcom Broadband SAS, allows Vodafone to promote this eco-friendly achievement to its extensive customer base across Europe.

Vodafone’s recent TÜV Rheinland certification underscores its commitment to sustainability, aligning with its goal to achieve net zero by 2040 and supporting the ‘Switch To Green’ initiative. Significant eco-friendly advancements include using recycled plastic for Set Top Box casings and remote controls, and adopting sustainable packaging practices. Moreover, Vodafone’s Set Top Boxes have been recognised for their superior energy efficiency, further cementing the company’s dedication to environmental responsibility.

Stephan Scheuer, Head of Business Development and Product Sustainability at TÜV Rheinland stressed that “With the ‘Green Product’ certification mark from TÜV Rheinland, manufacturers such as Vodafone are able to provide environmentally conscious consumers with clear guidance. They are proactively demonstrating that they meet the increasing legal requirements for sustainable products, from production to use and reuse”.

Joakim Reiter, Vodafone Group Chief External & Corporate Affairs Officer emphasised that “We are delighted that Vodafone’s consumer Set Top Boxes are the first products to be certified by TÜV Rheinland according to their latest specification. This will enable our customers to make a more informed choice on their environmental performance. This certification demonstrates Vodafone’s commitment to reducing our environment footprint under our drive to become a net zero company by 2040, and also helps support Vodafone’s consumer ‘Switch To Green’ campaign”.
